I have had my laptop for c.8 months with no issue. I connect it to my TV using an HDMI cable. The laptop clones the display and I play games on the TV using a gamepad.
I have had no issues whatsoever and have not changed TV or cable in the past 8 months. However as of today, every time I start a game (Farcry 5 - which has been fine for 6 months now), the game plays for about 5 mins and then the connection to the TV cuts out (ie. screen shows no connection and audio stops too). Its like the HDMI port has completely failed and the only way to get the laptop to recognise the TV/HDMI port again is to do a full restart. The game continues to play on the laptop screen just fine
I have updated the Nvidia drivers and also tried running the game in windowed mode, but its made no difference. I have also tried different cables. Finally, once it has failed, I have also tried to connect the laptop to a monitor but again the laptop fails to recognise it.
Please help here as its driving me crazy. Thanks!

I recommend you check the connection with a monitor or a different TV (If possible) and let me know.
Meanwhile, I recommend you perform a system restore back to the date when everything was working fine.
Follow the steps in the below article to perform a system restore.
