HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My HP notebook (HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms) is not detecting a Dell LCD (Dell ST2220L) via HDMI cable but my notebook is detecting my LED Television via the same HDMI cable, so it means there is some combability issue between my notebook and the Dell LCD. I have already done the following:

  • Connected the same HDMI cable with another notebook and the display is fine. Means, both the cable and display are working fine and its just some issue between the Dell LCD and my notebook
  • Updated the BIOS and the Display Drivers

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Kamran

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I reviewed the post regarding HDMI issues with the computer. Fabulous description and excellent troubleshooting were done by you. Great job! Kudos to you on that score.

For me to assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try multiple HDMI cables?
  • Please provide the complete model# of the computer to assist you better.
  • Check on the Dell Monitor setting needs to selected as HDMI?

For now please try these steps:

  • Right-Click on the start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe  After following the on-screen instructions and selecting the correct Operating system.
  • If it still does not fix the issue, please perform the relevant steps for HDMI related issues from this link: http://hp.care/2rKIvXg regarding video issues. If there is no hardware issue with the computer, this should do the trick for you.
