Hi @JamiePunk,

Thanks for posting your question in the  HP Community. It is a terrific place to find answers and tips from experts in the community. I reviewed your post and understand that the HDMI port does not work after a Windows 10 upgrade. I’ll be delighted to assist you here.

At the outset, you’ve diagnosed the issue  perfectly. Excellent job on that score. Kudos to you. It is always a privilege to work with technically savvy customers. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. We value your relationship with HP and wish to serve you better. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Have you tried a different HDMI cable?
  • Have you tried multiple monitors like a television screen?
  • Do you get no output at all, or is it only audio or video?

If this doesn’t work, then please roll back the operating system to its previous version using this link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-recover-a-previ...

If nothing works please perform a system recovery from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01867418

Please note performing a recovery restores the computer to factory settings and all data is wiped clean.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

Hi @JamiePunk,

I reviewed your post. I would like to gather more information regarding this.

Did you perform the steps mentioned in the previous link for resolving HDMI issues?

Do you get any video output, or is it only audio that is heard?

Did you check with a different HDMI cable?

Is there no HDMI output at all?

First off, the options are limited if the manufacturer of the chipset and graphics card has not released updated drivers for windows 10, then HDMI output may not work. That is the only reason why I requested you to reset the computer to original factory settings.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

It is at least not found on the HP support site. there are no updated drivers for windows 10, for the bios, chipset or graphics drivers. Link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/404...

Please check that link out.  It has no drivers for windows 10. Only Windows 7 drivers are listed.

Hope that answers your question.

I cant do a rollback, dont have a way to backup my local files, and in the initial responce to my message either you or another represenative sent me to a link for a Driver Updater that would scan for missing or updated drivers but in order to download them it charges you to do the fix, your company needs to stop refering to third party software, would thier be a way to aquire the driver from the device manufacture? i do not see anything in my device manager stating HDMI, but i do have a unidintified device and i suspect that that might be the HDMI driver, I just cant belive that HP hasnt fixed this issue, and i dont for the life of me why HP cant create a driver that works on Windows 10, has your company discontinued a very popular Interfas, is thier any help you can give that will resolve this situation?

Hi @JamiePunk,

I appreciate your quick response. I also understand the situation correctly.

Please be informed that the parts that go into  making this computer are supplied to us by branded manufacturers that supply the same parts to other computer companies like HP. We do not manufacture these parts. So the supplier should  provide updated drivers for the graphics card and other components for windows 10.

I have included a link for the product specifications of the computer. Link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02029512

It looks like an intel graphics card and I will include an intel driver utility link to check for updated drivers for windows 10:  http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Please download and run this intel driver utility. It will check for updated drivers and inform you to update it if it is found. If not,it will report that you have the latest driver installed  and then there is nothing much that can be done as updated drivers are not available for it.

Please do not click on any third party website that routes you to pay for it. The link was included only because it provided some screenshots for troubleshooting.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up"button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps.

Take care and have a great weekend ahead. Smiley Happy

I used the Intel update software that you included in the previous post, it did not find a updated driver for my Video or anything HDMI related, It did try to update another driver but crashed and will not compleate the install, so at this point i see that i will not be able to use my HDMI unill either HP can find a solution to the Windows 10 Driver problem or until Intel fixes the driver situation, Is thier no link with a driver that would fix this situation, I do have a unknown device in my Device manager and i suspect that that is the HDMI device because i looked at every other device and none of them give any HDMI refrence.

I dont know what to do at this point, any more help that you could give me will seriously help me.

Thank you.

@JamiePunk,

Thanks for the update,

I recommend you uninstall the unknown device showing in the device manager and then try the driver installation using the Intel utility as that should work,

However, if that doesn't help you could download the update from intel website directly (avoid the beta / test versions).

Feel free to get back to us for further assistance,
