Probook 450 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have problem with my Probook 450 G6. The HDMI port stopped working. When I connect HDMI cable, the monitor starts searching for signal, after couple of seconds, the monitor writes no signal. Windows is not able to detect the monitor. When I try to duplicate screen using Win+P shortcut, the menu shows, but changing the option takes no effect, still black screen on monitor. I have tried to reinstall intel HD graphics driver, tried some older drivers with no effect. Then i tried some suggestions posted on this forum, but nothing takes effect. I am very desperate about this malfunction. Only one thing i remember is that HP support assistant installed some new version of bios firmware. Actual version of BIOS is R71 Ver. 01.14.01 and date is 10/19/2020. Is there any chance of bug in this update causing this malfunction? Do you have any useful suggestions about this problem? Thank you.

I found one more coresponding error. In the device manager i see the event "Device not started" and in event viewer there is following error:

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3EA0&SUBSYS_8538103C&REV_02\3&11583659&2&10 had a problem starting.

This probably coresoponds with malfunctioning HDMI output. On other forums i found same issue was caused after windows update, which is exactly my problem. HDMI stopped working after windows update. But I still did not found the solution.

I don't have an answer for you, but I've also been having problems after upgrading to that latest BIOS, version 01.14.01 Rev.A, with release date Nov 6, 2020. The HDMI port on my HP Elitebook x360 1040 G5 also stopped working after I did that. Then the HDMI port randomly started working again after one reboot, and I can't point to anything specific that I think did the trick. My other issue though, is that none of the ports on my HP Dock G2 is working after I upgraded the BIOS, and I'm not able to rollback the BIOS to the 01.12.00 August version. I've had a lot of trouble with connecting the Dock G2 before, and now it stopped working again... So to me, it seems like there are problems with the new BIOS version.

Thank you for reply. I have tried to downgrade to some older version of BIOS, but did not help. There is probably some bad combination of windows updates, drivers updates and BIOS updates. I hope HP/Intel/Microsoft will solve this quickly, I need HDMI every day for presentations. Only one thing I can try is buy USB-C -> HDMI cable.
