Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

Good morning.  I recently purchased a new HP laptop (model 17-cn0097nr).  When I access the display attributes, I see the following:

HDR video streaming:  Supported

Use HDR:  Not supported

1)  Why is 'Use HDR' not supported?  Is this an indication that there is an issue or defect with my laptop?

2)  What is the difference between the HDR video streaming option versus the Use HDR option?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @curious_minded,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) support is a display technology that enhances the contrast and color accuracy of images and videos, resulting in a more immersive viewing experience.

If the laptop has an HDR-capable display, it should be listed in the specifications or product description. You can also check the Windows display settings to see if HDR is supported and enabled.

Keep in mind that HDR support also depends on the content you are viewing. You need HDR content to take full advantage of an HDR display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
