DO NOT SEND ME SPAM PM'S

Can someone for the love of glob please just answer me.

I'm starting to get so **bleep** pissed off at this stupid laptop that I'll never touch another HP product in my life if someone doesn't finally tell me what to do.

This piece of youknowwhat came with a YouCam webcamera. It doesn't work. I have tried to fix it every possible way but it does not work. I want to uninstall it, but can't find an uninstall file. Can someone please tell me how do I get rid of it? I can't use my webcam AT ALL as long as I have that stupid thing in here.

Thank you.

Assuming you are asking about the following computer model (name found in a separate thread):

HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab214no (ENERGY STAR)

Assuming you are asking about the following Cyberlink software (supports Windows 10):

Cyberlink Youcam Software

A couple of things to try:

  • Download and install the Cyberlink software
  • Assuming it installs, Restart the computer and log in
  • Check for the Software in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
  • If you find the software listed, Click on it and "Uninstall"
  • Assuming the process to uninstall the software works: After the removal is complete, Restart the computer and log in

If the software installs but you cannot uninstall it, try an Uninstaller program:

If printer software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and then shows up again, or is otherwise not “going away” when you tell it to do so, try an Uninstaller program.

Some people have used and recommend the following:

Revo Uninstaller (Free version)

Thank you for your reply.

I have succesfully uninstalled YouCam from the control panel. 🙂

I replaced it with ManyCam. I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it works.

Thank you. Not from the USA but still. 🙂

I was unable to get ManyCam to work. It says my camera is being used by some other app, which isn't true.

I'm thinking that YouCam messed up my whole coomputer. Any tips?

Computer is OK -- sounds like the Cyberlink program is still detected in the Device Manager.

Try:

Take the time to read / follow the solutions in this document:

Webcam is not Working (Windows 10, 😎

Check the Device Manager

Open the Device Manager > open Imaging Devices > Right-Click on your camera >

Uninstall device

Restart the computer and log in

Open the Device Manager > open Imaging Devices > Right-Click on your camera >

Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software >

Navigate to the folder in which you saved the ManyCam executable >

Double-Click to install ManyCam

Restart the computer and log in

Check for any difference

P.M. Message received:

From: JuliaKawanova
Subject: Hello
Note: Thank you for helping me so far. However, when you told me to uninstall the camera from device manager, it somehow broke my whole computer. I was wondering if you're able to help me. I can't open my laptop at all. I get an error message saying "the boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors" with an error code 0x0000034. What happened?

I do not know what happened.  :Crying:

I have asked sent a message for help from within our Expert Community.

Hopefully, someone is online today and can step in to assist.

Be aware that while our own Expert community is here to help, not everyone that responds to you via P.M. is trustworthy.  Do not respond to any message that lacks the Expert / HP seal in the header ("from").  Expert and HP emblems within a message can be easily faked.

Please provide any details that you can recall -- did the Device Manager remove the camera device or did it fail at that point when you requested the "uninstall" of the camera?

Hello.

I uninstalled ManyCam from device manager. It uninstalled succesfully. It asked me to restart but I clicked later so I can save my work and then proceeded to restart. Nothing seemed to be off.
My brother has Win10 on a cd. He said that I have to use it to restore some file that is broken. I will get that done tomorrow.

I have heard back from a colleague.

Advice as follows:

Option:  Factory reset the notebook, or use the media creation tool to clean install W10.

References

Microsoft - Media Creation

Recovery options in Windows 10

and

HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 10)

HP PCs - Microsoft Push-Button Reset (Windows 10)

If the notebook is completely locked up and there are files you can't afford to lose, then the clean install approach using the media creation tool would be the way to go.

When asked to install windows, do not delete or format any partitions.

Install over the current installation, so a Windows.old folder is created.

Browse the Windows.old folder to copy any files needed into user directory on the new installation.

Open the notebook's support page to install the drivers and available software.

This would also take care of the camera issue as well.

Personal Programs will need to be installed.

Thank you for helping me.

I was able to fix my laptop without losing any files.

My friend came over and fixed it with no trouble at all, just a few clicks and it started up again. Didn't even need the win10 for it.

Now I'll just stop uninstalling stuff that came with this laptop to be extra careful. 😄
