Hi,

I recently purchased an HP 250 G8 with an HP Universal USB-C HUB to have 2 external displays (1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort) but my external displays are not working.
I noticed that the USB-C port on my laptop only supports data transfer because there is no DisplayPort or Thunderbolt logo.
My question is this: Would buying an external power supply to power my HP Universal USB-C HUB allow me to have adequate power and have my 2 external displays working?

Thanks for your help!

The specs of your machine is

             https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06951526

It has

  • (3) USB-A 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports
  • (1) USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C (data transfer only)
  • (1) HDMI v1.4b (cable sold separately)
  • (1) Headphone/microphone combo jack
  • (1) RJ-45 (Ethernet) port
  • (1) AC power port

It ONLY has 1 USB-C port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

For more connectivity, please use

                         True Universal Docking Stations

Regards.
