Solved!

HP 255 G6 Notebook PC - Video Player

HP 255 G6 Notebook PC

I have had a HP 255 G6 Notebook PC for a while now. Is it right that whilst it has a DVD drive built in it does not have any video player software installed. If not, what am I missing. If so does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,

Hi, @Malcolm81

I have shared a link to my Skydrive folder below.

Since your notebook came with a DVD, see if the HP Cyberlink software works for you.

It works on several of my HP desktop and notebook PC's running on W10

Download, unzip and run the zip file labeled sp75514

Thanks David,

I did install it and tried it with 3 DVDs - couldn't get any to play properly - different symptons with each one!

Many thanks Paul.

I have downloaded, unzipped and installed it but get a message 'PowerDVD12.exe has stopped working'. So I guess it's not compatible with my system. My experiences so far support my feeling that it would have been sensible for DVD playing software to have been preinstalled on the laptop!

You're very welcome.

Sorry that didn't work.

The only other suggestion I can offer if you have not done so already, would be to use the Cyberlink software found on your notebook's support page...

This package provides the CyberLink Power Media Player Software for the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. CyberLink Power Media Player Software enables users to view Blu-ray discs (BD) and DVDs and supports a wide variety of video and audio formats.
