Hi.

I am very disappointed about HP. This brand was once excellent but it looks like now it is not good anymore. Why? I bought the laptop model 255 G9. I thought I could connect it to my 1440p monitor and get a 1440p resolution, but I was wrong. My monitor has DisplayPort and DVI-D ports and I tried to connect the laptop with two Displayport-HDMI cables, one HDMI-DVI cable, one HDMI cable with the Displayport-HDMI adapter, and one USB Type-C-DisplayPort cable. Nothing worked! I got the picture only with HDMI-DVI cable but the resolution was 1920 x 1200 max. It is really hard to believe that a new laptop can't deliver picture in 1440p on the monitor.  It is important for me to get at least 1440p resolution on an external monitor.

I have 15 years old Dell laptop and guess what...It produces a 1440p picture on my monitor! A 15 year old laptop! And HP doesn't. It looks like I will need to sell this HP laptop...

From its manual

It has  HDMI v1.4b supporting: up to 1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz That's all

I saw that document days ago! A disaster that a laptop from 2023 officially support only 1920 x 1080 and Dell's laptop from 15 years ago supports  higher resolutions.

I don't think we CAN'T say that. Dell or HP or other vendors always have many options and you did not select the right one.  HP 255 series machines are the cheap business machines therefore they are suitable for business buyers.

If they are business laptops they should allow good connectivity to external monitors because people need that in their work. It is hard to work a whole day on tiny displays that laptops have. It is way easier to work on larger displays.
