HP Chromebook - 14a-na0030nr
Chrome OS

I am experiencing a problem with one single website (HSN.com).  The website loads with super enlarged images, zoom setting is at 100%; some pages on this website with mostly test load normally.  Items on the website cannot be viewed 30, 60, 90 items per page.  One item takes up several pages of scrolling to view.  I am using a HP Chromebook with Chrome OS, touch screen with keyboard, no mouse.  Also using google chrome browser and it is up-to-date (version 100.0.4896.133 official build, 64 bit).  I know of two other Chromebook users having the same problem with this HSN.com website. None of us have been successful in resolving the problem.

These are the troubleshooting attempts I've tried but all failed: 1) cleared browsing history, cache, cookies and rebooted system multiple times; 2) checked zoom setting - 100%; 3) tried opening HSN.com website using a different browser -Yahoo and it loaded with super enlarges images as well; 4) not opening HSN website from a bookmark; 5) pinched the touchscreen with fingers to zoom in/out; 6) held down the CTRL key while pressing the minus key on the keyboard.

I don't know if this is a Google Chrome problem, a HSN or Chromebook issue.  The problem started about 2.5 weeks ago.  HSN is not aware of a problem on their side and recommends clearing the cache.  The google chrome support community has failed to respond to my request for help.   Why isn't the HSN website defaulting to normal settings when I reboot after clearing the browsing history, cache and cookies?  Why is it only this website that loads with super enlarged images and the drop down text  relocated from the right side of the page to the far left of the page?  All other websites load normally using this same HP Chromebook.   Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

Hi, @Great_Auntie_8  I just opened the website and all seems to be well with it.

Have you tried using a different browser like Firefox or Microsoft Edge to see if you will experience the same problem?

HP Recommended

I tried Yahoo and it did not solve the problem.  The google play store on my Chromebook does not offer Microsoft Edge for Chrome OS and my research indicated Firefox for Chrome OS will have limited capabilities.  So I asked the two other Chromebook users having the same problem if either of them already had Microsoft Edge or Firefox installed on their Chromebooks to test your suggestion.  One of them downloaded Firefox on their Chromebook and it did not work.

It could be a design flaw by the developers of the website probably. Maybe the site has not been optimized for Chromebooks.

Have you observed whether other websites give you the same problem?

HP Recommended

No other websites are giving me this problem.  I've been using this same Chromebook for a few years accessing this same HSN.com website with no problems - - that is until 3 weeks ago.   That is also around the time of the last full Chrome OS update (4/19/22). Could the two be related?  I expect the next full Chrome OS update will occur approximately May 17, 2022.  I'm baffled as to if it is the Chrome OS update causing the problem, why would it affect just this one website?

I really don't think it is the fault of your Chrome OS at this point. It is most likely the developers of the website. It could be a glitch in their system that caused Chrome OS to not display the webpage properly on your system.

I'm writing to provide you with an update.  Yes it was the Chrome OS.  Today (Tuesday, May 11th),  there was a Chrome OS update from version 100.0.4896.133 to version 101.0.4951.59.  Once the update was completed and I restarted my HP Chromebook, the HSN.com website loaded normally...no enlarged images, no shifted text.

Thank you for your assistance in troubleshooting.  I reached out to numerous support groups and customer service for a resolution.  You were among a small few that took the time to try to help,  Again, thank you.
