Hello HP Community! I hope everyone is staying safe and feeling well. I need some help...…..
The bottom of my 2018 ENVY 13-ah0051wm, on the left near the micro SD and Type C ports, gets VERY hot when using the Type C port to drive dual monitors (Dells, with display ports). The odd thing is, that when I first used the monitors, there was no problem; but, after a couple months of not using the monitors, soon after I connected them, the fan turned on and the bottom was very hot to the touch. I also suddenly had trouble connecting the external monitors...I used to be able to just plug them into the Type C connector (using a Dell display port, hdmi, usb multiport box). Now, when I try that, the video switching on and off, quickly alternating between the external and the onboard monitors and then stabilizing and works fine before overheating. Thanks for any ideas, help, suggestions. Much appreciated. Best, ~Bill

I understand that the HP ENVY 13 Very Hot When Connected to External Monitors
I would suggest trying the steps listed in this document: Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating.
Sometimes issues can be caused by stress on the computer, I would follow the steps for Manage applications and system features to increase performance: Computer is Slow.
