HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0504sa
Microsoft Windows 11

I have updated my computer to windows 11 and the self orientating worked fine but then I sent it off for some minor repairs and was downgraded to windows 10 and the auto rotation no longer works. I have looked on the community page and found something saying to update my bios, but it was all up to date so I went into the diagnostic test and it came up with this

with no information on my orientation sensor. can anyone help

Hi @Luke156,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY x360 13" laptop is not flipping automatically as expected, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Check for Software or Driver Issues:

  • Make sure your laptop's operating system and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues with hardware functionality.
  • Visit the official HP support website and download the latest drivers and firmware updates for your laptop model.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches.

Check Display Settings:

  • Go to your laptop's display settings and ensure that the display orientation settings are set to "Auto-rotate" or "Tablet mode" (depending on your operating system). This setting allows the screen to flip automatically when you rotate the laptop.

Check for Physical Obstructions:

  • Ensure that there are no physical obstructions preventing the laptop from flipping, such as objects stuck in the hinge or a case that's blocking the movement.

Calibrate Sensors (For Windows):

  • On Windows, you can try calibrating the sensors that detect the laptop's orientation. To do this:
    • Open the "Control Panel."
    • Search for "Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input" and select it.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the sensors.

Check for Updates (For Windows):

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can improve hardware functionality. Check for Windows updates and install any pending updates.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to ensure that malware or viruses are not causing the issue.

Perform a System Restore (For Windows):

  • If the problem started after a recent software change or update, you can try performing a system restore to a point when the laptop was working correctly.

Remember to back up important data before performing any major troubleshooting or system restore, as some actions may result in data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
