Hello,

I am trying to connect my HP EliteBook 820 G3  to my new Lenovo Thinkvision T27H-30 monitor. My other HP computer is new (work computer), and that works fine using USB-C.

I have connect the monitor via USB-C and a message appears that this might not be supported. I understand the HP 820 is somewhat older. So I connected the monitor then with a Display Port cable (both ends) and the monitor is not recognized at all. On the monitor you need to switch input port manually, and I did.

I updated the BIOS of the HP computer to the latest one. Also Windows 10 is up to date.

I have discussed the matter with Lenovo tech support and they cannot help, since it seems to be an HP problem.

One interesting thing is that in the instruction on how to manually install the drivers for the monitor it states that:

"On the Desktop, move mouse to bottom-left corner of screen, right-click choose Control

Panel, then double click the icon of Hardware and Sound, and then click Display".

When I do this, there is no option at all to click "Display" it is missing.

So I need to install HP drivers for USB-C docking station (since the Thinkvision is a docking station)  for the monitor? I see that the charging and the other functions such as sound are working through the monitor.

How can I make the monitor work?

Thank you

Marco

Thank you Bahien, I was not sure. I now resolved the issue, since it unknown to me that this monitor has 2 Display Ports, one to connect another monitor to and one to connect your computer to.

Of course I put the cable in the wrong port, so now the monitor works as expected. the USB-C take on the LAN + audio via headset.

So this is resolved.

The USB-C port on your HP EliteBook 820 G3 machine does NOT support video out (Alt mode),
