Hello! I recently bough an EliteBook 8470p for a sturdy laptop for web browsing and basic office usage:
i7 3720QM, HD 4000, 8gb ram, 240gb SSD, 1366x768 Display, 52 W/hr Battery.
So far the laptop ticks just about all of the boxes and I am happy with my purchase. They overall build quality is excellent, the keyboard and touchpad are decent, and despite its age the system is very snappy and responsive for what I use it for.
The only real complaint I have is the base 1366x768 Display that this laptop is equipped with. The resolution is acceptable on a screen this size, but some extra pixel density would be welcome. The real issue is the overall panel quality. The backlight is not very bright. It is okay for indoor usage, but with any sunlight it can be hard to see. Additionally the colors are often washed out and I find myself moving the display very often to try and find an angle where the display looks better. Even when at the perfect angle the screen does not look particularly good. Overall its not a very good panel and I am wondering what my options are as far as upgrading the display.
I see that this model laptop was also available with a 1600x900 display, but I believe this display is also TN and would have much of the same issues.
What are my options as far as upgrade that will be able to work with this laptop? I am looking for 1080p IPS if possible, although 768p IPS would also be okay. I have not dug very deep inside this laptop and do not know what type of cable this screen uses either.
