Hi there, my HP Elitebook 8540p some drivers not function properly, one is the mobile data protection sensors.. the function sensor lights are off and not working..i noticed it when i change my hard disk into SSD. now when i replaced it, the sensor lights are off and not working. Id like to ask if this about compatibility of HDD or SSD? Please help me.

Hi:
When you install a SSD, you don't need the Mobile Data Protection Sensor, since there are no moving parts on a SSD for the device to 'park.'
However, you can install the driver so the device get installed in the device manager like this, and not have the software.
Download and install this free file utility. The 2nd link at the top of the page is for 64 bit.
After you install 7-Zip, download this version of the HP 3D driveguard driver.
This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64144.exe
Right click on the above driver file you saved and select 7-zip from the menu.
Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the exe file into its folder name (sp64144).
Once that is done, go to the device manager.
The Mobile Data Protection sensor when it is missing the driver will be labeled as a Unknown device.
If there are more than one Unknown devices listed in the device manager, select the one with the hardware ID of ACPI/HPQ0004.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device if you don't know where to look.
https://www.howtogeek.com/193798/how-to-find-drivers-for-unknown-devices-in-the-device-manager/
To install the driver, go to the device manager. Click on the Unknown device with the hardware ID of ACPi/HPQ0004.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
