HP Elitebook 850 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried getting a HP Elitebook 850 G5 (with USB-C thunderbolt) working with an Apple Thunderbolt Display from 2016. It shows up as Thunderbolt Device when connected, but "connecting" from the Thunderbolt Approval popup doesn't bite. Connection status in "Attached Thunderbolt Devices" remains "not connected".

This post (and thread) suggests this has something to with a Thunderbolt compability bit not being set by the display that the computer is looking for, and that the solution is to run an utility that disables that.

Does anyone know if this utility is available for the 850 G5, and what it's called? Can it be downloaded from HP's support site, or do you have to get directly from support technicians?

(This poster seems to have the same issue btw)

Hello

in BIOS setting there are some protection about thunderbolt that you can try to DISABLE or set to No security and see what happens.

And it could be that you don't  have HP Thunderbolt software installed , available for 850 G5 , to enable device connection in case security is set in BIOS. you find it in the driver page for 850 G5.
