HP Envy 13-d 053sa

I have opened this laptop to replace the keyboard palm rest assembly.  Unfortunately, the one I bought was faulty as well so didn't end up fixing it after all. I put everything back together and used it with an external keyboard.

After about 2 weeks of light use, the screen started to show these artifacts. The PC was non responsive when that happened.

Laptop would stay like that for less than a minute then it would shut off or restart.

Eventually this has lead to the laptop not able to open at all. I then used a bios update USB stick and also removed the CMOS  battery and put it back in and it worked again.

I have run all diagnostic tests possible. All good. Memory check and storage check. I have updated the gpu drivers.

I have reset Windows keeping the data. It took maybe 6 hours to do so overnight and when I came back to it in the morning it was still running. Soon as I touched it it went fuzzy again/

Did think it was hardware - maybe, and I left it to run without bottom cover  - same thing...  sometimes this would happen when laptop was touched and moved other times when it was still.

When connected to HDMI on TV same artifacts show up. I even got them in BIOS or Startup screen

The screen ribbon is fine, without the bottom cover I pressed on it and nothing happened.

I noticed lately that when the screen freezes the fans run faster. Also when that happens, the PC is non responsive.

After restart, the BSOD shows up with various errors: most recently (attached) Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area

after this the startup repair launches.

@Shane853

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
