HP Recommended

I have an HP Envy 15 Notebook and the touchpad is not working. I can find it in Device Manager if I click show Hidden devices.  I can then see SynapticsSMBus TouchPad.  It has an error message ...This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)  I have tried to update the drivers but it doesn't seem to work. I made backup discs when I got the computer.  Would I be able to find the original drivers on those discs or has someone found the drivers that actually work?  Someone had suggested uninstalling it but I am reluctant to do that because I don't know if it will really search for it when I restart my computer.  Any suggestions?

HP has hundreds of different models/products called HP Envy 15. What is your and what is its OS ?
