HP Envy 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 360 laptop (HP ENVY x360 - 15-cp0053cl) with the following ports:

1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI 2.0; 1 headphone/microphone combo

I am using the USB-C port on the laptop to plug into the USB-C port on the StarTech dock with the following Specs:

Bus TypeUSB-C
Industry StandardsUSB Power Delivery Specification Rev. 2.0
USB Battery Charging Specification Rev. 1.2
DisplayPort 1.2 with MST
IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab
USB 3.0 - Backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1

I'm using an HDMI display with an HDMI to HDMI cable and another HDMI display with a HDMI to DP cable. Both monitors work with their respective cables standalone and also when plugged into a desktop with dual monitor support.

I can't get either of these displays to show anything either by themselves or when both plugged into the StarTech dock. This Type-C stuff is getting ridiculous. Any help is appreciated.

*EDIT* I am using the USB-C port on the laptop, I inadvertently typed USB-3.

The specs of your machine is

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06265175

It has

  • 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); (a)
  • 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge);
  • 1 HDMI 2.0; (b)
  • 1 headphone/microphone combo

You can connect to 2 or 3 external monitors using 2 ports (a) and (b)

  1. You need USB-C to USB-C monitor or compatible USB-C to DP adapter to USB-C or DP monitor. You can also use daisy chain to another monitor.
  2. Simply HDMI to HDMI cable.

Your machine is compatible with the HP USB-C Gen 5 dock. I have no idea how the StarTech dock works

Regards.

Thanks for confirming the laptop has the capability to drive up to 3 displays. I'll have to jump over to StarTech support then to see if they can help me troubleshoot. I actually have two of these docks and neither one is working.
