I received my HP Envy 15 a couple of days ago, generally I'm really happy with it, however the webcam is awful. The picture is extremely grainy in all lighting conditions, even in the best lit area of the house where it is very bright and in day light.
I watched lots of reviews of the laptop before I purchased it and they all had good quality pictures when they reviewed the webcam. Is there a way to fix this with updating software/drivers etc?
I have gone through all of the Windows updates, and HP Support Assistant updates etc. I have tried downgrading the resolution and still has the grainy effects and the picture looks exactly the same, I took a picture using the built in camera app and it confirmed that the picture was 720, but it looks very grainy.
Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
If the image is too dark, take the following actions:
-
Make sure your video recording environment has good lighting.
-
Change the image quality, brightness, contrast, and other adjustments in the webcam software.
To resolve problems with choppy playback, take the following actions:
-
Reduce the size of the video image in the webcam software.
-
Use a high-speed internet connection.
-
Do not use other high-speed USB devices while using the webcam.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake,
Thanks for the copy paste response, did you actually read my post? I said that I have already tried all of those solutions and the image quality is still awful and grainy.
I have tried the camera under bright light, I lowered the resolution, there are no additional settings like brightness and contrast in the windows camera app or on zoom, we have 60mb/s internet and no USB devices connected.
Are there any updates, better drivers, or ways of improving the image quality of the image on the camera? The quality is awful compared to my phone and other computers webcams I've seen. The YouTube reviews I watched had pretty good image quality filmed from the webcam with no grainyness. I was expecting better from a £1,800 laptop.
