@DSPIDER74, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Envy laptop powers on and charges correctly, but the keyboard is completely unresponsive after recent updates. Let’s walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

This can help clear any temporary hardware glitches.

  1. Power off the laptop.
  2. Unplug the AC adapter and remove any external devices.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power and turn the laptop back on.

Check if the keyboard responds.

Test Keyboard in BIOS

This helps determine if the issue is hardware or software related.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly (once every second) until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Try using the keyboard in this menu.
  • If the keyboard works in BIOS, the issue is likely software-related.
  • If it doesn’t work, it may be a hardware issue.

Reinstall Keyboard Driver

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards.
  3. Right-click your keyboard device and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop, Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

Use HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to test keyboard functionality:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Select Component Tests > Keyboard Test.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause input issues.

  • Visit the HP Support Website and enter your laptop’s serial number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and keyboard/input drivers.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue and the keyboard doesn’t work in BIOS or diagnostics, it may be a hardware failure. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
