HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 (268U3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,

I have a HP Envy (Product #2L7M5UA#ABL) that came with a HP USB-C multi port hub. When I connect an external monitor via the HDMI port I don't see the monitor via my display setting.

I can see the HP USB-C Multi-port hub via my connected device.

Are there extra steps that I need to do to display my external monitor?

Many thanks

Looks like your machine is an HP ENVY x360 Convert 15-es0003ca, its specs

           https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c07686419

It has  1 Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® 40Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) port. What is your USB-C multi port ? Sounds like they are NOT compatible.

All USB-C ports are not the same. The manual says: " Your computer might also support a Thunderbolt docking station.". Not USB-C hub.

Regards.

Hi Banhien,

The USB-C port if the one from the below link. I'm wondering why HP would give an incompatible USB-C port while buying this laptop.

https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/product.aspx?id=1bg94aa&opt=abb&sel=def

Additionally, I have been using a thunderbolt docking station (Dell WD19TB) with this HP laptop for the last year and never had issue. When I connect to the dock station, the monitors won't display anymore but the laptop is charging and the keyboard and mouse connected to the docking station are working fine. It seems to be the same issue that I'm facing with the HP USB-C multi port hub. I am using Windows 11, I don't know if this can be an issue.

I have reformatted my laptop to its original state but the issue still persists.

Your help is much appreciated!!

Sorry I don't know that product from Dell therefore I can't comments on it. HP has the following list

Hi Banhien,

What is the difference between a USB-C dock and a thunderbolt dock from your list? What I understand from your previous comment is that a USB-C dock wouldn't necessarily work in my case?

Many thanks,
