HP ENVY Laptop 13-ad0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've been using my HP laptop at school now for the past year and everything was going fine until recently. From about 2 weeks ago, my laptop has become completely unusable whilst outside the house. Whenever I turn it on, the screen violently flickers and becomes virtually impossible to use. However, whilst at home it works perfectly without any flickering at all. I've attempted to replicate the conditions at home however I'm unable to get the screen to flicker when not at school.

At school I have the following:

- No WiFi connection

- It's not plugged into a charger

- No wireless usb for connecting a mouse

If I attempt to replicate these conditions at home, the screen remains normal. Whilst the screen is violently flickering, if I change my brightness to around 65%, the flickering will stop, aside form the occasional one every 10 seconds. If I then connect to WiFI (i.e. a mobile hotspot), the screen darkens, and if I'm able to find the brightness where it suddenly lights up, it flickers violently.

I've searched for updates and recently downloaded the latest version of Windows 10, but still no change. I've entered the BIOS start up screen and it still occurs. There's no external damage on the laptop at all, it's stored in a safe case at all times.

It appears to me that this issue only arises when at school however, it did once occur when I was at home and I believe it had just connected to WiFi. I have not tested this yet with an external monitor however, I feel if it's working fine when at home, then this is a system problem and not a screen problem.

If anyone could provide me any advice this would be greatly appreciated, I need this laptop for everyday working and currently it's virtually impossible to use.

Thank you.
