I have been on this issue for weeks and tried every suggestion i found online including the VA with no success until i stumbled on your post and tried your solution. That was all i needed to get the camera up. Once i turned on the tiny privacy switch on the right side of the HP Envy, the camera came on and that was it. Thank you so much, you are truly a life saver👍👌. I totally agree with you, HP needs to include this information as one of the resolution steps by their Virtual Assistant.

Hello,
Have you tried enabling the tiny switch on the right side of the laptop. it is around the charging port, just before the SD slot. Trying pushing it forward to enable/turn it on. Hope this fixes the camera issue.

I have spent all of last night and most of today troubleshooting my webcam. I have a 2014 HP Envy and it doesn't have a privacy switch for the camera on the RHS.
I can find it in device manager if I choose to show hidden devices but there is an error in properties saying the camera isn't installed. Beyond annoying as I have uninstalled many times, updated drivers, searched devices, ensured camera is on etc. etc. I have been all over the hp help pages, updated everything including BIOS and read countless pages like this one to try and turn this stupid camera on.
HP don't have webcam drivers, just links for cyberlink software (I do have youcam and it runs then tells me to turn my camera on) and have tried to find compatible drivers however I don't think the drivers are the issue. Something somewhere thinks the camera isn't installed, but what??
This is so frustrating, now we are in isolation I would dearly love to connect to family using Zoom or FB messenger on my laptop rather than my phone.
Anyone solved this or can help?
