I have an Envy X360 convertible which is around 12-18 months old and was bought for our daughters' A Level studies. Over the last few months the screen has come away from the casing on the bottom right corner. The laptop has been looked after immaculately and I couldn't work out how it's happened - however every time that the screen lid is closed, the problem worsens and you have visibly see the glass screen stretching away from the case near the hinge due to the pressure. It looks like an incredibly poor design fault, and searching online it seems that I am not alone.
I can't find a copy of my receipt and can't for the life of me remember where I bought it, however the laptop is clearly not fit for purpose and it should last far longer than just over a year.
Any thoughts on how this can be remedied as it's on the verge of being unusable ... as it is she is currently unable to close the case in fear of permanent damage.

This happened to mine. I was careful with it after I noticed and rarely closed/opened it, but eventually the hinge attachment broke. The problem was that there is a plastic housing glued to the inside of the lid and the hinge screws into the plastic. Eventually the plastic broke. The laptop was no longer under warranty and I brought it to a repair shop where they used some kind of strong epoxy to reattach it. I paid about $100 (in the US).
