Envy- t15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There were a lot of very old posts on this topic but no fresh ones, and hardware and software have moved on.  But the problem remains! So I am starting a new thread for a current solution.

Trying to connect new ASUS monitor to my HP Envy laptop using Windows 10. I can use an adapter off a USB port into the monitor's VGA input, but I would like to do HDMI to HDMI (Monitor has HDMI input, Computer has only HDMI, no other outputs except USB.)

When I try to do this (of course monitor then is set for HDMI input), the computer does not discover the monitor. It also does not see the speakers in the audio settings. What should I do?

Check the device manager under display adapters. Sometimes on a Windows 10 update you get Microsoft Basic which will not activate the HDMI port and you need to get the correct driver for the video. It would also help if we had the full model number or Product Number.

I am having same problem and my second monitor is an HP VH240a and my primary monitor is HP 27es. I can switch the monitors into the primary hdmi monitor port and each is recognized there. But I want to be able to use both monitors at once.
