A  bit of a conundrum.  HP Envy laptop (1) with Windows 11 was connected to a second display via HDMI to VGA. Worked fine for several years. Second display stopped working - no signal. Replaced monitor and cable. No difference.

A second HP Envy laptop (2) (also with an external 2nd monitor) was in the same household.  Took original HP Envy (1) laptop and connected to this external monitor - worked fine. It appears the HDMI port and cable were ok.

The 2nd HP laptop (2) was brought into the original situation - HP laptop to 2nd monitor (not original -  replaced) via HDMI to VGA - worked fine. Also tried HDMI to HDMI - worked fine.

Why won't the original PC connect to a new monitor? It just keeps saying "loss of signal".
