Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

Sorry if I've listed any of the information incorrectly, it's my first time posting on a forum.

I have a HP Envy x360 laptop with a synaptic clickpad (current driver: 'Synaptics SMBus ClickPad'). Like most laptops nowadays, the clickpad has the feature of being able to just tap it in order to 'left click', as opposed to using the buttons at the bottom of the clickpad. Personally, I find this feature very annoying, as I am constantly clicking things by accident simply by brushing over the clickpad. Previous versions of the driver allowed for this feature to be disabled whilst still retaining the multi-touch features (such as two-finger scrolling, which I find very useful). The latest version of the driver, however, does not seem to give you this option; the only thing you can adjust is the sensitivity of the clickpad, which I already have set to the lowest option.

I have tried installing previous versions of the driver by downloading them from the HP website, but none seem to offer the ability to turn off the 'tap to click' without also losing the multi-touch features (specifically the two-finger scrolling). Is there a driver you can point me too that will allow these options, or a way to disable the 'tap to click' feature on the current driver?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

@MattMiles95 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are Disable Clickpad 'Tap to Click' Feature.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Update the touchpad drivers by clicking here, once done use the below steps.

To Disable the Tap to Click option for Synaptics touchpads:

  1. Click Start and then Control Panel.
  2. Select Classic View from the left side of the window.
  3. Double-click the Mouse icon and, then, select the Device settings tab.
  4. Click the Settings button and, then, Tapping.
  5. Un-select the Enable tapping checkbox and click OK.

Let me know how that pans out,

Hi @Praveen196,

Thanks for your response.

When I open up the control panel, I don't have the option of 'classic view'. Accessing my mouse options via the control panel brings me to the same options I get if I access them via Settings, which doesn't allow me to alter/disable the 'tapping' options.

I've attached a screenshot of my control panel window for your reference. Control Panel.JPG

Any other help/suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Matt
