I recently updated the HP Firmware Updater to be able to update my fleet of G5 USB-C docks to 1.0.22.0 hoping that this would resolve another issue.  Now when some users connect to docks that they weren't connected to when the Updater was updated, we are getting the above issue.  All the peripherals seem to work fine but the updater can't see the dock.

We use HP Elitebooks (mine is an 830 G9) and I have only had 2 instances reported to me, so far.

It's the firmware of the dock I am trying to update, which you would not see in the windows driver.

One way to find it is in the windows registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HP\HP Firmware Installer\HP USB-C Dock G5
The Key you are looking for is "InstalledPackageVersion"

The problem is that my users are seeing the error and reporting it.  The firmware was updated silently, staged to the dock.
