HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0004nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Monitors connected to my Pavilion Gaming laptop go intermittently black.  The laptop display isn't affected. This lasts from a couple of seconds to minutes. Sometimes it comes back on its own, sometimes I have to click or hit escape, sometimes I have to turn the monitor off/on.

I've tried with two monitors, and have changed the HDMI cable, and the problem persists.

Drivers are up to date, no problems detected with HPSA, UEFI and other diagnostic tools.

Not related to any specific app.

I've tried changing all power and sleep settings on both the monitor and the laptop.

I'm just using it for normal office / browsing, so the graphics card isn't being thrashed.

Nvidia provides two drivers - Game Ready and Studio.  I assume the default was the Game Ready as it's a gaming machine.

I uninstalled it and installed the Studio Driver, which is supposed to be more stable.

So far, I've not had a problem.  We'll see... 🙂
