HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dw1000 (1W794AV)

I have an HP 14 dw x360 convertible laptop and I reinstalled a minified version of windows. There is nothing wrong with the OS itself, and there is also no driver on the drivers page for I2C.

This device is currently waiting on another device or set of devices to start. (Code 51)

Dependencies:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A0E8&SUBSYS_87F4103C&REV_20\3&11583659&0&A8
ACPI\INT34C5\2&daba3ff&0

This hardware works when using a traditional version of windows because the laptop automatically installs other drivers

HI @x4exr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with the "HP I2C device is waiting for another device to start" error (Code 51) indicates a problem with the I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) device communication, often related to drivers or dependencies in your system. Since you reinstalled a minified version of Windows, it’s likely that some essential drivers or components are missing, which are causing the touchpad and display issues.

Here’s a structured approach to resolving this issue:

1. Identify Missing Drivers

  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager (Win + X > **Device Manager`) and locate the I2C device with the error.
  • Driver Details: Right-click the device, select Properties, and check the Details tab. Under Property, select Hardware Ids to view the hardware IDs and use them to search for the appropriate drivers.

2. Install Missing Drivers

  • HP Support Website: Visit the HP support website and search for drivers specific to your HP 14 dw x360 model. Even though you mentioned there’s no driver listed for I2C, check for drivers related to the chipset, touchpad, and display.
  • Intel Drivers: For I2C devices, drivers are often part of Intel’s chipset or I/O drivers. Download and install the latest Intel chipset drivers from the Intel website or the HP support page.
  • Windows Update: Ensure that Windows Update is fully updated. Sometimes, updates include necessary drivers that might not be present in a minified version of Windows.

3. Install Essential System Drivers

  • Chipset Driver: Install the latest chipset driver for your laptop. This often includes drivers for I2C devices and other essential components.
  • Touchpad and Display Drivers: Look for drivers related to the touchpad and display. These are often found under the “Input Devices” and “Display Adapters” sections in Device Manager.

4. Check for Missing System Components

  • System Components: Ensure that all necessary system components and services are enabled. Some minified versions of Windows might remove or disable essential services.

5. Reinstall Windows with Full Version

  • Full Version: If the minified version of Windows continues to cause issues, consider reinstalling a standard version of Windows. This will ensure all drivers and system components are properly installed.

6. Update BIOS

  • BIOS Update: Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware compatibility issues. Check HP’s support website for a BIOS update for your model.

7. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Diagnostics Tool: Use HP’s diagnostic tools to check for hardware issues. HP Support Assistant or the built-in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics can help identify and resolve hardware problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
