Without the touchscreen problem (I don't have one), the last week or so, my Omen 16 laptop has been doing the same daily install of 255.255.0.1. What the hell is going on here HP??? I have not been able to figure out what this is so far. I too wish there was an actual informational listing of EXACTLY what these software components are for and what they do so I can make a semi-intelligent decision as to whether to install them or not. PLEASE, HP!!!!

7F5Q8UA#ABA   IS THE PRODUCT NUMBER    HP PAVILION PURCHASED NEW IN FEB, 2024    RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY RAN OUT, I LOST ALL TOUCHSCREEN USAGE. I AM PARTIALLY DISABLED AND I DEPEND ON TOUCHSCREEN FOR A LOT OF WHAT I NEED TO DO ON MY LAPTOP!  THE TOUCHSCREEN WORKED FINE BEFORE THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE TO WINDOWS 11 HOME 23H2  THEN THERE WAS AN HP DRIVER AUTOMATIC UPDATE. RIGHT AFTER THAT, I LOST ALL TOUCHSCREEN CAPABILITY. I REMOVED THE TWO UPDATES HOPING IT WOULD BRING THE TOUCHSCREEN BACK.  IT DIDN'T. I GOT A CLEAN COPY OF WINDOWS 11 FROM MICROSOFT AND INSTALLED IT. I ALLOWED HP AND INTEL TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL WHATEVER DRIVERS WERE NEEDED. I THEN REINSTALLED MY BACKED UP FILES AND APPS. STILL NO TOUCH SCREEN. IT IS NOT LISTED ANYMORE IN  HID IN DEVICE MANAGER. HERE IS A SCREENSHOT OF THE HID LISTING:

I AM READY TO THROW THIS THING OUT AND BY ANOTHER LAPTOP....NOT HP! YOUR QUALITY AND SUPPORT HAVE BEEN UNACCEPTABLE. I'M A SENIOR ON A FIXED INCOME AND I CAN'T JUST THROW A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS AT A REPAIR SHOP. I NEED ANSWERS. I NEED THE CORRECT DRIVER TO DOWNLOAD IN ORDER TO GET MY TOUCHSCREEN WORKING AGAIN. YOU PEOPLE ARE THE ENGINEERS....FIND AN ANSWER. JUST AN FYI .... THE LAPTOP HAS NEVER HAD IT'S BACK OFF NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN DROPPED OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY!

Hi @OldRadioDude,

Thank you for your response.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your HP Pavilion laptop's touchscreen! Let's go through a few troubleshooting steps that could help restore your touchscreen functionality. Given your frustration, I’ll provide a clear, step-by-step guide. Let's start with the basic steps:

Check for HID-compliant Touchscreen in Device Manager:

Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.

Look for Human Interface Devices, and check if there is an entry called HID-compliant touchscreen. If it’s not listed, it might mean the driver is missing or there’s an issue with the hardware.

Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

Press F2 immediately after turning on the laptop to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run the Touchscreen Test to check if the issue is hardware-related. If the test shows no issues with the hardware, the problem is likely related to the driver or software.

Check for Windows Updates:

Open Settings → Windows Update → Click Check for Updates. Sometimes, a Windows update can include critical driver fixes for touchscreen issues.

Reinstall the Touchscreen Driver Manually:

If the touchscreen is missing in Device Manager, it's possible the driver got removed during the updates.

Visit HP's official driver download page.

Enter your product number or use the automatic detection tool to find your model.

Download the latest touchscreen driver (for your exact model) and reinstall it.

Uninstall and Reinstall HID Drivers:

In Device Manager, right-click on any HID-compliant device under Human Interface Devices and select Uninstall device.

Restart your computer to allow Windows to automatically reinstall the drivers.

Reset the Windows 11 Touchscreen Driver:

Press Win + X and select Device Manager.

Find HID-compliant touchscreen under Human Interface Devices.

Right-click and select Uninstall device. Restart your computer to reinstall the driver automatically.

Enable the Touchscreen (If Disabled in Windows Settings):

Type Device Manager in the search bar and open it.

Expand the Human Interface Devices section.

Right-click HID-compliant touchscreen and select Enable (if it’s disabled).

If the option is missing, it might be a driver or hardware problem.

Restore the System to a Previous Restore Point:

If the touchscreen worked before the update and now doesn't, you can try restoring the system to a point before the update caused issues.

Search for System Restore in the search bar.

Select Create a restore point → System Restore.

Follow the instructions to choose a restore point before the issue began.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND NOTHING WORKED. WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO GET THE RIGHT DRIVER TO GET THIS WORKING THE WAY IT SHOULD? NONE OF THE TROUBLESHOOTING LINKS WORK IN TOUCHSCREEN. THERE IS A PAGE FULL OF BLOCKS AND WHEN I TOUCH THEM TO FILL/CHANGE THE COLOR NOTHING WORKS.  YOU PEOPLE JUST HAVE TO ADMIT THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCT AND YOUR CUSTOMER SUPPORT HAS GONE TO HELL! I WILL FOREGO OTHER NECESSITIES AND GO BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT THAT I CAN DEPEND ON. IT WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE ANOTHER HP PRODUCT. IT SHOULDN'T TAKE OVER A YEAR TO GET THE RIGHT DRIVER FOR THE TOUCHSCREEN TO WORK. I HAVE DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED OVER A HUNDRED DIFFERENT DRIVERS AND NONE OF THEM WORKED. THIS THE POOR QUALITY OF YOUR SOFTWARE AND THE LACK OF COMPATIBILITY WITH WINDOWS 11 25H2 ......

WHY IS IT A PROBLEM FOR YOU TO JUST POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DRIVER DOWNLOAD?  MY PRODUCT NUMBER IS LISTED.... THIS IS WHAT I MEAN BY LOUSY SUPPORT.... YOU ALL WANT TO TAKE SHOTCUTS INSTEAD OF HELPING YOUR CUSTOMERS.
