HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d4000 (4C803AV)

HP Laptop 15s-fq4577sa not connecting to Dell USB-C Monitor when connected with USB-C cable.

The Dell Monitor says it is scanning for a signal, then comes up with "No HDMI 2 Cable - the display will go into Standby Mode... "

From the Dell monitor user manual I understand it should connect to the laptop for display using supplied USB-C cable :  "This port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP1.2 standard only)".

If I connect the two using an HDMI cable they work together as expected.

If I connect an OWL to my laptop using the USB-C port, the OWL and laptop work as expected - sound, video and share screen options all work.

I followed the install instructions, connecting the USB-C cable to the laptop while both the laptop and monitor were switched off.

Should this laptop be compatible with the monitor using the USB-C cable? Is there a setting somewhere I have not set correctly?

Thank you,

Hi @Debbie_ST

the issue is that the laptop does not have USB-C port compatible with DisplayPort, it does not transmit image, can only use dock

DisplayLink Products list | Synaptics

This dock, through software and hardware, allows the use of an external monitor.

Cheers, I couldn't find the information about the DisplayPort capabilities of the laptop, but I did wonder if it wasn't compatible. I have ordered an HDMI cable, so all will be good, Ta.
