Hi @Sekhon07,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Notebook 15 is experiencing a black screen issue after a BIOS update, which can happen if something went wrong during the update process. Here are a few steps to help recover from this situation.

Hard Reset with BIOS Rollback (Win + B method)

Since you've already tried this, let's make sure all steps were done correctly:

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect any peripherals (USB devices, external drives, etc.).
  • Press and hold the Win + B keys (for some models, Win + V keys).
  • While holding these keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the power button, but continue holding Win + B (or V) until you hear beeping or see a BIOS recovery screen.
  • If this works, the BIOS will attempt to roll back to the previous version.

Power Drain

Sometimes a power drain can resolve black screen issues.

  • Disconnect the charger, remove any external devices, and remove the battery (if it is removable).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30-60 seconds to drain any residual charge.
  • Plug the charger back in (without the battery if it’s removable) and try turning the laptop on.

External Monitor Test

If your laptop's internal display is malfunctioning:

  • Connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI or VGA to see if you can get a display on the external screen.
  • Press F4 (or Fn + F4) to toggle between internal and external display modes.

BIOS Reset with USB Recovery Drive

If the above steps don't work, you may need to perform a BIOS recovery from a USB drive.

  • Download the BIOS file for your HP Notebook 15 from the HP support website using another computer.
  • Create a BIOS recovery USB by following the instructions on the HP website.
  • Insert the USB into your black-screen laptop, press Win + B (or V) while powering it on, and let the system attempt a recovery from the USB.

Safe Mode or BIOS Access

  • If you can access the BIOS by pressing Esc or F10 repeatedly during startup, try resetting the BIOS to its default settings.
  • If you can boot into Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly during startup), try rolling back the drivers, especially the display driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
