Microsoft Windows 11

I updated my HP Laptop to Windows 11, now it gets really bad screen flicker and tonight I was using Photo Legacy and it came up with a driver issue and wouldn't let me convert a video I had been working on.  The error code is 0x887A0005, and it said there was a problem with the video drivers. I tried to update the driver but it says the best one is installed, anybody know what I can do. Never had this issue with Windows 10 and it said Windows 11 was compatible with my laptop.

Hi @Jordan-X,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing screen flicker and driver issues after upgrading to a new operating system like Windows 11 can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problems.

Check for Graphics Driver Updates:

  • Visit the official website of your laptop manufacturer or the graphics card manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).
  • Download and install the latest graphics drivers that are compatible with Windows 11.

Roll Back Graphics Drivers:

  • If updating the drivers doesn't resolve the issue, you might want to try rolling back to the previous version of the graphics driver.
  • Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Display adapters" section, right-click on your graphics card, and choose "Properties."
  • Go to the "Driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

Compatibility Mode for Photo Legacy:

  • Right-click on the executable file of Photo Legacy.
  • Choose "Properties" and go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select an earlier version of Windows (e.g., Windows 10).
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK."

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is fully updated. Microsoft frequently releases updates that can include bug fixes and driver updates.
  • Go to "Settings" > "Windows Update" and check for updates.

Check HP Support:

  • Visit the HP support website for your specific laptop model and see if there are any specific drivers or updates recommended for Windows 11.

Reset Graphics Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Graphics Options" or "Graphics Properties."
  • Look for an option to reset graphics settings to default.

Disable Hardware Acceleration:

  • In some applications, disabling hardware acceleration can help. For Photo Legacy, if there's an option for hardware acceleration, try disabling it.

Perform a Clean Install of Graphics Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current graphics driver using the Device Manager.
  • Download the latest driver from the HP website and perform a clean installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
