15-dy1071wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased the 15-dy1071wm notebook and the display colors are washed out and not HD by far.  I have tried updating drivers, calibrating colors, Adjusting brightness, saturation, contrast, etc.  Spent several hours trying various things I read to do on here.  Before I return this laptop for a refund I am hopeful someone has some tweaks or a trick I haven't tried.  I like the performance of this notebook and have had all HP notebooks to this point, each before with excellent display visuals, until now.  Such I disappointment the video is so poor right out of the box.  I would appreciate anything anyone can suggest.

@wbrightfl Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you have a new HP Notebook - 15-dy1071wm and read that the screen color is washed out. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

Do you mean to say that the screen colors are dull and not bright?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue :

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Do not power on the laptop yet.

Now, let us check how the display appears in the BIOS. The following steps will help:

  • Power on the laptop and immediately hit the f10 key repeatedly (7-8 times). This will load up the BIOS screen.
  • If the color appears washed out in BIOS too then it indicates a hardware issue. In such a case you may contact our HP phone support team to check the available warranty options for your laptop.
