HP Omen 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought my pc last year in august and since then I've had this issue 2 times, 1 time I wiped my laptop and installed a clean windows and that fixed it but this time I did that and that didn't work. My laptop is only using the intel graphics and is never using my gpu (I can see that in task manager, there are 2 gpu's and its not using the right one). I've done a bios flash, installed a bunch of drivers (even outdated and rollback) on the intel and nvidia devices, tried every combination in disabling , even disabled both and then it goes to microsoft basic render driver, but nothing seems to work. I have also tried to force start programs and games with my gpu by selecting them in nvidia experience, but still doesn't work.

Anyone have the same problem and fix?

HI,

Are you able to open Nvidia control panel ?
If yes, go to 3D settings>Manage 3D settings.
Change the preferred processor to High performace nvidia processor.
Screenshot attached.
Please reply if this works or not.Nvidia control panel.jpg

I've done that, and it doesn't work... selecting every program by itself or the global setting doesn't work. Even when i plug an external display into my hdmi port it doesnt work and says the display driver failed. Could it be possible that there is something wrong with the hardware in my pc?

I have exactly the same problem. Switch over on nvidia control panel to nvidia GPU but the physx config won't switch display to GPU will only use CPU. As a result even though my games "use" the Nvidia GPU I am getting 1FPS even on minimal settings and on even old games like CS:GO, WoW, FM 2015

I spoke to Nvidia who say the HP chipset drivers are no longer compatible with the Nvidia drivers therefore even though the omen appears to use the Nvidia card (you can see if you toggle show GPU use in taskbar setting in NVidia control Panel) it doesn't really use it and the game defaults to the intel integrated card.

Spoke to intel who said that the chipset drivers from HP are from 2015 and are out of date; their most recent is Septemeber 2018 - however I can't use their updater as replacing the HP manufacturer driver from 2015 could damage the laptop.

Spoke to HP they have escalated to tech for a work around. which I will put here if it comes. However you have to ask why HP won't support drivers post 2015 from intel on a machine from 2015???

If there is no work around I basically have wasted a heap of money on what is suppsed to be a high end gaming laptop that was advertised as future proofed for games for some time.
