OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck2000 (70X00AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

HI everyone

I need urgent help. Got a HP OMEN 17 model 17-ck2000na. Had it since November 2023. Apart from the occasional software issue I never had any problems until recently. I've upgraded the ram and storage to 64gb and 4tb respectively suing the same parts as the original. Afterwards I had a fresh instal of windows and that was it. Since that time my 4080 Mobile GPU is showing error 43. The drivers from Nvidia website are showing as being installed but its like they never stick to my GPU. It's completely not recognised by my laptop. Whenever I Run the HP tests its showing the GPU as fully functioning with no memory issues. Guys please help.

Hi @Podolski94,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Error 43 for the Nvidia 4080 GPU on HP OMEN 17!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Hardware Installation:

  • Ensure that the upgraded RAM and storage are properly installed and seated in their respective slots. Sometimes improper installation can cause hardware conflicts.

Perform a Clean Install of Nvidia Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current GPU drivers completely and perform a clean install.
  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > Right-click on your Nvidia GPU > Uninstall device. Make sure to check "Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Download the latest drivers from the Nvidia website and install them using the "Custom Installation" option, checking the "Perform a clean installation" box.

Update Windows:

  • Ensure your Windows is up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve underlying issues.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Disable and Enable the GPU:

  • Sometimes simply disabling and re-enabling the GPU can refresh its status.
  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > Right-click on Nvidia 4080 > Disable device. After a few seconds, right-click again and select Enable device.

Check for BIOS Updates:

  • Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. An outdated BIOS might conflict with newer hardware and drivers.
  • Visit the HP Support website and check for the latest BIOS updates for your model.

Reset BIOS to Default Settings:

  • Sometimes setting the BIOS to default can resolve hardware conflicts.
  • Restart your laptop, press F10 (or the appropriate key for HP systems) to enter BIOS settings, and choose the "Reset to default settings" option.

I hope this helps.
