I use an HP Pen for stylus input on the touch screen of my hp Envy 2 in 1.
After not using it for a while, I can't get it to work.
I have replaced the battery, but still nothing.
Also, my display no longer auto rotates when using tablet mode. I can manually change it to Portrait, but how can I get it to auto rotate? It used to just do it.

Hi @Ando4,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Have you made any changes to your software or OS?
If your HP Envy x360 15.6 Inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-Ee1000 is not automatically rotating, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Rotation Lock:
- Make sure that the Rotation Lock is turned off. You can find this setting in the Action Center on Windows. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen or select the Action Center icon in the taskbar, and then check if Rotation Lock is enabled or disabled.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause issues with screen rotation. You can update the drivers through the Device Manager.
Calibrate Sensors:
- Windows uses sensors to detect the orientation of your device. Calibrating these sensors might help. Go to Settings > Devices > Sensors and follow the on-screen instructions for calibration.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with hardware and software configurations.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates can address issues related to device orientation.
Check for System Updates:
- Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. Windows updates may include fixes for various hardware-related issues.
Rotation Hotkey:
- Some laptops have a dedicated hotkey for screen rotation. Check your laptop's manual or keyboard for any such key. Typically, it involves a combination of the Fn key and another key with a screen icon.
Check Auto-Rotation Settings:
- Open the Settings app, go to System > Display, and make sure the "Automatically rotate my device" option is turned on.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, there might be a hardware problem, and you may need to contact HP support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
