After 22H2 feature update by windows in November 2022 the Intel graphics driver started malfunctioning. Display would randomly start flickering when moving the mouse, going partially blank or displaying some kind of digital noise. Using the HP support assistant app I installed the latest Intel display driver recommended by HP. The previous issue did not present itself anymore, however with this driver (31.0.101.2115 Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics, 16/11/2022) the screen will be completely dark/blank when waking up from sleep or from normally shutting down the machine. Only after a restart or a hard shutdown (power button pressed for 10 seconds) does the display function normally.
I have tried switching between these two latest drivers and each one displays its own set of malfunctioning behaviour.
Both HP support assistant and Windows Update indicate I can optionally update the BIOS. I am weary to do so though because anecdotally BIOS upgrades can cause more trouble than they solve. Could this possibly solve my issue?
Should I be trying older driver versions? I am reluctant to roll back before 22H2 as I would like some of the up-to-date features (e.g. recent WSL support).

Hi:
If your notebook only comes with the onboard Intel graphics, see my knowledge base article for how to manually update the Intel graphics driver to the version from the Intel website. This is version 31.0.101.2114.

If your notebook has the Intel Iris graphics, the driver you want to install can be found in the Graphics_Xe_Plus driver folder.

You're very welcome.
Yes, I recommend that I avoid the fix because supposedly installing the generic Intel graphics driver from the Intel website causes the notebook not to switch to the Nvidia graphics adapter when more graphics processing is needed.
What surprises me is that HP has the newer driver available for download?
This is the latest Intel graphics driver I could find for your notebook.
