Hi Everyone,
I have here a HP Pavilion DM4-2101er in front of me.
I installed a fresh Windows 10 Pro on it and after all updates were installed (including all automatic driver updates) I still have one problem that I couldn't resolve.
Windows 10 Pro is not detecting my AMD Radeon HD 6470M correctly, it shows up as AMD Radeon 7400M Series in device manager, moreover I experience performance and stability issues if I keep the video device active: computer is slow, laggy and unstable (even though I have increased RAM to be 8GB and installed Samsung 860 Prod as SSD drive). What I mean when I say "slow": I type text in windows search or browser adress bar, it takes few seconds to see the text that I typed in. What I mean when I say "unstable": computer catches sudden bluescreens and reboots, e.g. when I try to install MS Office. As soon as I disable AMD Radeon HD 6470M in device manager - the whole computer becomes super snappy, as one would expect a system with a decent CPU, RAM and Disk to behave. Apps like Browser or MS Word start instantly fast, text that I type shows up immidiately.
I started trying solutions from this thread as itseems to be pretty close to my case:
it didn't help though.
The problem seems to be similar to this thread:
(screenshots there are really close to my situation) there is no suggested solution in the thread beside downgrading to windows 8, which is not what I want with my device.
I tried installing two CAB files from the top here:
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=6470m
both give me an error that drivers can not be installed, file not found. No idea what should that mean, I start to assume that those CAB-packages are somehow not compatible with my Windows version.
I tried installing this package for windows 8:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58702.exe
I got the file link from here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dm4-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/51...
I actually get the bluescreen during the installation (cause it is a windows8 driver on windows10?)
but after that the video adapter shows up with a proper name in device manager, though windows says that device had error and effectively disables it. If I try to update the driver with windows update, I get back to AMD Radeon 7400M Series driver again.
This thread seems similar,
but installing AMD Catalyst doesn't seem to bring any difference also I don't see how to download specific AMD Catalyst version, apparently AMD website has changed cause time has passed.
Installing drivers from here doesn't seem to have any effect - I still see AMD Radeon 7400M Series in device manager.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-hd/amd-radeon-hd-6000m-series/amd-radeon-hd-6470m
My device is listed as supported by Windows 10 here: https://www.amd.com/ru/support/kb/faq/gpu-615
So I expect HP or AMD to provide a solution to my problem here.
While trying to solve the problem I installed following HP packages:
SP55081
SP58702
SP60704
Any further recomendations how to solve the problem I mentioned above?

This page looks promising, but I don't trust non-HP and non-AMD website to get Drivers for my laptop.
Can I get same packages from HP websites?

I tried to write a link myself, here it is
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54001-54500/sp54363.exe
tried installing it - got bluescreen during installation.
After reboot I see Radeon (TM) HD 6470M in device manager, but it shows up wth exclamation mark and I coulnd't configure proper screen resolution.
I attempted to simply install the same driver again, it has succeeded, but with warnings, I checked the log file and didn't find there any warning.
Trying to start catalyst control center I get an error - couldn't start catalyst control center, at the moment there are no parameters that could be configured.
So I'm returning to my setup with disabled Radeon HD 6470M and still looking for a working solution
