Hello,

How to connect external monitor to laptop by usb-c to hdmi adapter? I bought two, any of them work.

The specs of your machine is

 

                 https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06459512

 

It has  1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does not support USB-C to HDMI video out. You have to use HDMI port.
