HP Pavilion x360 - 15t-dq100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Pavilion's touchscreen has quit working, as well as my HP pen, it does not respond to any touch.   I found several articles in the help section, but they were all old and the links were archived.  I have checked for updates, etc. and everything looks up to date and working.  When I restart my laptop, I get a pop up that the pen is not recognized.  I have just been using the scroll bar and touchpad, but I really use the touch screen and pen a lot and would like to troubleshoot the problem.  Thanks for any assistance.

Hi @Cheryl860,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If the touchscreen and HP pen on your HP Pavilion x360 - 15t-dq100 CTO have stopped working, and you’ve already checked for updates, here are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Recalibrate the Touchscreen:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings.
  • Click on Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
  • Follow the prompts to recalibrate the touchscreen.

Check Touchscreen Device Status:

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
  • Right-click on it and select Enable (if it’s disabled) or Update driver.
  • If there’s an error or the device isn’t listed, try right-clicking and selecting Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Update Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your model, especially for the touchscreen and the HP Pen.
  • You may also want to update the Chipset Drivers as they can affect touchscreen functionality.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates and install any pending updates. Sometimes, a recent update can resolve driver or hardware issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and turn the laptop back on.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Cheryl860,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the screen and pen for any visible damage or debris that might interfere with functionality.
  • Make sure there’s no screen protector or cover that might be interfering with touch sensitivity.

Test the Pen on Another Device:

  • If possible, test the HP Pen on another compatible device to ensure it’s working. If it doesn’t work on another device, the pen may be faulty.

Check Pen Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink.
  • Make sure that the settings are configured correctly for your pen and check for any settings that might be disabling the pen input.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools.
  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
  • Press F2 to select System Diagnostics and run a diagnostic test for the touchscreen.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the touchscreen and pen were working recently, you might use System Restore to revert your system to a state when they were functioning.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and follow the prompts to restore your system.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem. Contact HPphone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
