Product: HP Pavilion x2 Detachable
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have just purchased a HP USB-C to HDMI 2.0 Adapter to try and connect to a second screen. My laptop recognises a drive being plugged in but nothing is appearing. I have tried 'project to a second screen' but nothing is coming up. The screen is switched on and works with another device with a HDMI lead.

Hi,

Can you give the exact model or product number of the machine

model

Most likely the adapter you bought is for USB-C (with DP alt mode) to HDMI. Your notebook may not have DP mode so it would not work. You would need an actual converter that converts the signal through the USB output.
