Monitor connected by QGeeM usb c to HDMI adapter shows no signal, adapter specs show uses USB C 3.1 dp alt mode, HP specs list display port 1.2 for USB C 3.1.
What am I missing?
Thank you

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
- Is this first time setup using HDMI adapter?
- Have you tried with different HDMI adapter?
While you respond, try this workaround: Unplug the HDMI cable from QGeeM USB C adapter. Wait 30 seconds. Then plug the HDMI cable back in. Wait for the signal to initialize.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

4NL51UA#ABA, HP lists this as the only product number for the HP Pavillion 15-cs0057od, the serial # is 5CD9038GYM.
Yes for this laptop this is the first setup using the specified QGeeM adapter. In troubleshooting I have used two different monitors and cables, both of which work using a plain usb 3.0 adapter (J5create) to HDMI and also work on the HDMI port.
Obviously buying the new laptop with the USB 3.1 type c Gen 1 promises better, smoother video stream using the USB type C port. QGeeM has offered to send another adapter so I guess I will take them up on that. I do not have another laptop with the same spec USB type C port to help troubleshoot.
And as noted in the first message QGeeM confirmed the adapter has alt dp mode which appears to be necessary to use this USB type C port for video.
Thank you for responding to my post.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); installed on the PC.
The USB Type-C ports support adapters that can output different types of video such as HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort, all from one USB Type-C port on your computer or device.
I did a research and found a YouTube video on "How to setup Dual Monitors to a laptop with single USB type C port"
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

It does not help, all you have told me is the same information that I gave in my original post, nothing new. Even the prod id you asked for was readily available on the Specifications Page by simply searching by the complete model number given in title of the first post.
The video is of no use as the presentation simply tells how to extend or clone the laptop display, selecting that option for each monitor which he seems to think is some magical result. But he has video signal to his monitors.
My issue is that the video out signal is not getting to the monitor from the adapter and the laptop specs as you note show the output to be capable of HDMI, etc all from one adapter. QGeeM confirms that their adapter works on the spec you quote, but I get no video signal. And you have not address the alt dp mode which seems to be a key attribute of the adapter.
I appreciate the effort and realize that there are a multitude of adapters, no one can test them all. Still, I am no closer to resolution of the issue. Finally I do not have unlimited laptops that I can use to test the adapter and I cannot just start randomly buying adapters.
Thank you for your effort.

I would first get the adapter replaced. If that doesn't work, contact HP Tech Supporr for repair. You could try another brand, too. I had some USB C issues with my Envy, so I just went to the electronics store & picked up a cable. Once I still had the problem, I just returned the cable.

Yes, as noted in my second post QCeeM offered to send a new one, I did take them up on the offer. Delivery is scheduled for Friday. I will post back on whether that resolved the issue. Still looking for someone with a new laptop and a USB C port of similar spec to test adapter.
I am not a fan of just random purchase, QCeeM had good reviews on Amazon, not really another way to qualify the product unless you just happen to know someone with the same laptop and adapter. Of course anyone with no problem is not likely to be reading this post.
You do not say what issue you had and how it was resolved, are you using the USB C port for video?

What I was saying is that you could pick up something from your electronics store to test or see if you could bring your laptop in to test. Just say your shopping around & want to test it out. That's how I was able to troubleshoot my Envy. As for my envy, it wouldn't connect to 2 Samsung Note 8's, an S8 or S8+ via USB C port. Same result from every Spectre & Envy at Best Buy, but HP insists that I send of my laptop still. From browsing the forums, it looks like HP needs to improve their USB C ports, screens & maybe touchpads.

Got it, had not thought of that, thanks. The latter comment is what worries me. I have not talked to the HP Support engineers yet, want to eliminate other possibiilites first.
If replacement adapter does not work, will try the Fry's store this weekend.
