Hi @scot_male44,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP Pen (PN: M83354-001) doesn’t connect to your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PC 14-dv2000, even after charging and trying to pair it. You’re doing everything right, and I’m here to help you get it working.

Recommended Steps to Connect Your HP Pen to Pavilion 14-dv2000

1. Confirm Compatibility

Your Pavilion 14-dv2000 does support Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP), which is required for the M83354-001 pen to work. No Bluetooth pairing is needed; the pen should work automatically when the screen detects it.

2. Charge the Pen Fully

Make sure the pen is charged via USB-C. A white LED indicates charging, and it should turn off or change once fully charged.

3. Test Pen Functionality

Try using the pen directly on the screen:

  • Open Microsoft OneNote, Paint, or Whiteboard
  • Touch the screen with the pen tip it should respond immediately

If it doesn’t:

  • Try restarting the laptop
  • Ensure Windows Ink Workspace is enabled:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink
    • Enable Show recommended apps and Pen shortcuts.

4. Install or Update HP Pen Control (if needed)

HP Pen Control allows you to customize button functions, but it’s not required for basic pen input.

  • HP Pen Control has been deprecated. Use the myHP app instead
  • Download from Microsoft Store: myHP App

5. Check Drivers

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Human Interface Devices
  • Look for an HID-compliant pen or Touchscreen
  • Right-click and choose Update driver

If missing, run Windows Update > Optional Updates to install missing pen drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi VikramTheGreat, Sorry for taking a while to get back to you but I have been busy. On the pen situation, no change yet still trying to connect to my HP Pavillion 14, I'm wondering if it's the batteries inside the pen, I just bought it off Ebay and it was new and unopen but could be an older version. The white light is on when charging but stays on all the time and when I try the pen on the laptop screen there is nothing, no writing or no light on pen. I have attached a photo of the pen, and I have read that you can change the batteries, but the top is like a cap but hard to get off and don't want to try and force it in case it breaks. What you think lol TIAthumbnail_IMG_1461.jpgthumbnail_IMG_1462.jpg
