Hello. I last used my camera Tuesday morning. I had a Win 11 update 3/11/2025 KB5053598 (OS Build 26100.3476) and perhaps related as I can't think of anything else now my camera has "disappeared into the ether".
It is not found at all in Settings as if I don't have a camera and using Zoom, Google Meet, Google Chat functions I no longer have a camera access. This is a built in camera in the laptop from time of purchase.
I don't seem to have a restore point for this Win update where I can go back. I am not super techy, but was hoping not to have to buy anything new, including a detached camera. Sigh.
Maybe I could redownload the driver or software.
I guess the only other thing, I do regularly run CCleaner, PC Matic, Malwarebytes. I suppose a driver update could have caused too, but don't specifically remember updating a camera driver. Now my system doesn't even see I have a camera so I can't really troubleshoot that either from those apps that I am aware of. Please help if you have ideas. I work remotely and use my camera multiple times a day, not having it is becoming a problem.
Unfortunately my HP warranty has expired.

Hi @KristyJo2
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like the Windows 11 update you installed may have caused a compatibility issue with your camera. This happens occasionally when updates interfere with device drivers or system settings.
Let’s troubleshoot and resolve the issue step-by-step:
1. Verify Camera Permissions
Sometimes an update alters the app permissions for your camera:
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
Ensure that the toggle for Camera access is turned on.
Make sure the apps you want to use with the camera (e.g., Zoom, Teams) have permission.
2. Check Device Manager for Camera Issues
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
Look for your camera in the list. If you see a yellow warning icon next to it:
Right-click the camera and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
Restart your laptop after the update.
3. Roll Back the Driver
If the new driver installed with the update is causing issues:
In Device Manager, right-click your camera and select Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.
Restart the system and test the camera again.
4. Install Driver Updates from HP
HP-specific drivers may resolve any compatibility issues:
Go to the HP Support website. Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
Enter your laptop model (HP Pavilion 15-cw1063wm) and search for camera or system drivers compatible with Windows 11.
Download and install the updated camera driver.
Restart the system after installation.
5. Test the Camera in a Native App
Confirm the camera isn’t blocked at the system level:
Open the Camera app on Windows 11.
If it displays an error, note it down for further troubleshooting.
6. Run the Windows Troubleshooter
Use the built-in troubleshooter to detect and fix camera-related issues:
Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
Run the Camera Troubleshooter.
Follow the instructions provided.
If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
Regards,
