Hi @EricaPal,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with the left hinge causing the casing of your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible to separate is not uncommon. Even though the laptop has not been dropped or damaged, this issue can arise due to wear and tear over time.

Here are some steps you can take to address this problem without having to purchase a new laptop:

Check for Loose Screws:

  • Power off the laptop and unplug it from any power source.
  • Look for any screws around the hinge area that may have become loose and tighten them cautiously. Be sure to use the appropriate screwdriver to avoid stripping the screws.

Inspect the Hinge Alignment:

  • Open and close the laptop slowly to observe the hinge movement.
  • Check whether the alignment of the hinge is causing stress on the casing, and if possible, gently adjust it without forcing or bending the material.

Use Adhesive for Minor Separations:

  • If there is a small gap where the casing is coming apart, consider using a high-quality, non-conductive adhesive suitable for plastics. Apply carefully and allow time for it to dry completely before use.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
