HP Pavilion x360 15-bk062sa (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I recently repaired a HP Pavillion x360 laptop that had a faulty processor, the job required a mainboard swapout and upgrading the HDD to a new SSD. I then installed windows 10, However once the install was complete the keyboard and mouse were unavailiable. The devices are present in device manager without issues, but not working. Where as the mouse was avaliable during install and setup, it quickly stopped functioning once the OS loaded fully and connected to the internet for updates. The keyboard did not function at all but worked fine in bios. In windows, once the device is rotated into tablet mode the keyboard and mouse function normally. So I believe the problem is with the intel sensor that controls rotation, it is functioning backwards. At first i suspected driver issues with windows 10 but no amount of updates fixed the problem. When I put the original HDD back in the system and booted to the original windows 7 install the problem seems to have now manifested there. I have tried various options including updating the bios firmware and changing the registry entry that controls lid rotation, and nothing seems to fix the problem. Can anyone advise how to resolve this isuue? Is it a sensor at fault, or drivers? I would settle for a way of disabling the sensor entirely so it no longer disables the keyboard and mouse when rotated. Either through settings, or by physically disconnecting the sensor. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks.

Don't worry, I understand that your HP notebook is not working correctly. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg .
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo Lake, I have tried all of these steps to no avail. I have tried updating drivers both through windows update, 3rd party driver software and through direct downlads from HP, with a fresh windows install between each attempt. Nothing has worked. I have tried updating the bios to no effect. If i install HP support assistant it just tells me that everything is up to date and there are no further actions availiable. But the lid rotation is still backwards.
