I have had my HP lapotop for 2 years and have never used the pen. Now I wanted to use it but when I charge it, it just stays constantly with the amber light and does not change to white. I have had it charging for hours but still doesn't change light. Does anyone know what is the issue?

@Tarpet, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP pen is not changing from an amber light to a white light after being charged for hours, it could indicate an issue with the pen or charging setup. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:
Check Charging Cable and Port:
- Ensure that the charging cable is securely connected to both the pen and the USB power source.
- Try using a different USB port or power source to ensure there is no issue with the current setup.
Inspect the Pen:
- Check for any visible damage to the pen or charging connectors that might be causing the issue.
- If the pen is a rechargeable model, make sure that it is correctly aligned for charging.
Restart Your Device:
- Sometimes, simply restarting your HP device while the pen is connected can resolve charging or recognition issues.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that your laptop’s drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website and download any necessary software or driver updates for your pen or laptop model.
Battery Issue:
- If the pen has not been used for an extended period, the battery might have failed or degraded significantly. Consider reinstalling or replacing the battery if possible.
I hope this helps.
